2.1. GMCL & Play Cricket (updated Winter 24/25)

2.1.1. THE ECB’s Play-Cricket system is the GMCL’s partner for player registration and match scoring 

(updated fo 2025 season)

2.1.1.1. All players must register a personal account with Play Cricket with their full personal details and join their GMCL club. Temporary player registrations previously created by the club will no longer be accepted sufficient to play in GMCL and all registrations must be updated.

2.1.1.1.1. Players must (if required by the League) pay any annual fee required at the time of the registration on Play Cricket before their first game in a season. The Board have, through financial controls, determined that no player registration fee is payable by player or club on their behalf until further notice.

2.1.1.1.2. The player registration created is used by registered scorers to add players to team squads at the appropriate club.

2.1.1.1.3. The player details registered must include full name and initials and date of birth and, for anyone playing in any of our open age competitions, a passport style photo of head and shoulders which allows identification of the player by other persons.  Should additional data be required at registration then registrants would be notified of the purpose.

2.1.1.1.4. On play-cricket the scoring app is free to users and all benefits for player registration have ended.

2.1.1.2. Each club must have one or more Play Cricket administrators (“Play Cricket admin”)

2.1.1.2.1. Each Administrator is responsible for verifying that all the club’s players are registered on Play Cricket and managing the allocation of the club’s players to the teams at the club and adding scorers to the club’s Play Cricket profile

2.1.1.2.2. GMCL does not have access to member clubs’ play-cricket accounts therefore play-cricket administrators at clubs are requested to advise the league play-cricket administrator of their contact details - please e-mail playcrickethelp@gtrmcrcricket.co.uk 

2.1.1.2.3. Any current club administrator can add another club administrator, member or scorer into the roles

2.1.1.2.4. The league administrators no longer have access to the scoring apps and cannot access club play-cricket accounts and therefore all changes must be made by club administrators. If clubs require help they must go directly to the ECB play-cricket help team via the club play-cricket website.

2.1.1.2.5. Club and league administrators can update scorecards and players recorded after the game, please email playcrickethelp@gtrmcrcricket.co.uk for their assistance.

2.1.1.3. Scorer Registration 

2.1.1.3.1. Scorers must have a play-cricket account.

2.1.1.3.2. Clubs must assign scorer roles on their club play-cricket account, Members 

2.1.1.3.3. Once registered by the club as an official scorer for a team on Play Cricket, this access allows them to enter the player from the club into the team squads and automatically gives the scorer access to score the team’s matches on the Play Cricket app.

2.1.1.4. Play Cricket functions

2.1.1.4.1. The system links registered players to the players selected for a match and this updates the statistics for each player and club. 

2.1.1.4.2. The ball by ball commentary on the game is visible to all users of the Play Cricket app 

2.1.1.4.3. Access to live scorecards is provided free on the play-cricket app with their e-mail used to register on Play Cricket

2.1.1.5. Addition of Points

2.1.1.5.1. Play-cricket will automatically add match points and bonus points

2.1.1.5.2. Penalty Points will be deducted manually
