1.5. Communications

1.5.1. Managing Communications

1.5.1.1. The league uses e-mail as the primary tool for communication to allow our volunteer officers to respond when they are available

1.5.2. Communication with the Board & League Officers

1.5.2.1. All communication requiring a response should be by e-mail. Phone calls should be avoided where possible. Please do not post Questions on Twitter or by Direct Message.

1.5.2.1.1. There are a number of email addresses available for initial contact (updated 2025):

1.5.2.1.1.1. Clubs contact with the league should be to their Club Liaison Officer

1.5.3. Club to Club Communications

1.5.3.1. To ensure we protect personal details of club volunteers and officials, GMCL will not publish personal contact details online

1.5.3.1.1. GMCL must comply with General Data Protection Regulations 

1.5.3.1.2. GMCL will now share club contacts through our CLOs by Division / Competition only when these are required.for the purpose of conducting league business.

1.5.3.1.3. If club officers wish to share their personal details directly with officers at other clubs, then this is outside GMCL control and therefore outside our GDPR remit however we recommend that any share of details is done as safely as possible.

1.5.4. League to Club Communications

1.5.4.1. GMCL has many ways to share news and information to reach as many people as possible.

1.5.4.1.1. All officers, players and volunteers should use the club website www.gtrmcrcricket.co.uk as their first source for news and information

1.5.4.1.2. GMCL have a WhatsApp Channel where news items will be published that anyone can add to their WhatsApp account

1.5.4.1.3. Our Club Liaison Officers will issue e-mails directly to the recorded club contacts

1.5.4.1.4. Board Directors can issue messages centrally to club lead contacts

1.5.4.1.5. Newsletters will be issued frequently, anyone can sign up to receive these here - http://eepurl.com/gmkGbX    

1.5.4.1.6. GMCL posts information on the league X account (@GtrMcrCricket)

1.5.4.2. GMCL cannot be held responsible for mail failure at output or at individual’s mailbox actions

1.5.4.2.1. Please add the domain “@gtrmcrcricket” to your approved emails (known as “allowlisting”) to avoid our mail going to your Spam.

1.5.5. Verification of Communications

1.5.5.1. In any communication to other clubs and the league, it is the issuing club’s responsibility to ensure

1.5.5.1.1. That emails have the subject matter clearly stated in the header field

1.5.5.1.2. That if the matter is Urgent - start the subject field with “URGENT”

1.5.5.1.3. That if a response or acknowledgement is required the e-mail clearly says so and offers a reasonable response time

1.5.5.1.4. That a reply is received from all parties confirming that the proposals or change is agreed before action is taken.

1.5.5.2. You should not assume that a message is received and agreed.

1.5.6. Failure of Communications

1.5.6.1. If no response is received within your required timeline it is reasonable to issue a reminder or text to that person.

1.5.6.2. Only if a response is not received to the reminder within a reasonable time should you then forward the matter to the league CLO for their urgent attention to chase this for you.

1.5.6.3. After the above steps have been followed and the issue remains unresolved, please elevate to the Board.

1.5.7. Feedback & Suggestions

1.5.7.1. The Board and Executive are always open to suggestions and feedback

1.5.7.1.1. The Board will seek opinion and proposals from all members when considered appropriate to support the decision-making process.

1.5.7.1.2. The Board have a feedback and suggestions page on the website https://www.gtrmcrcricket.co.uk/pages/feedback-suggestions this is open for new entries all year round.

1.5.7.2. The Board will not agree all suggestions but will respond where contact details are provided
