Following comments from numerous clubs and players the GMCL Board have organised samples of different cricket balls to those used currently.
We have a Readers Special County Imperial Crown ball which will be used on Saturday 2nd September and a Dukes County International ball which will be used on Saturday 9th September in the Premier Division and Premier 2 Division. Only 6 out of the 7 fixtures in Premier 2 will be trialing the new balls as we received 24 of each ball. The fixture between Friarmere and Moorside on Saturday 2nd September and the fixture between Walshaw and Stand on Saturday 9th September will use the Oxbridge Windsor ball as normal.
Captains will be required to submit their views on both balls after the games by completing the attached Google form
The views will be collated and a recommendation taken to a Board meeting later in September when players comments will be discussed along with the commercial aspects.
This exercise doesn't mean the balls we currently use will be changed it is purely to compare with others and to find the best ball at the best price for clubs. Please make sure you respond to the survey as your views will make a difference to the match balls used going forwards.
I will arrange to get the balls dropped off with club officials/captains/players. I may ask that you take some to pass to your opponents for the following week.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at players@gtrmcrcricket.co.uk.
Thanks,
Will Halton
Players Director
