24 May 2019

Many of you will be aware of the recent sad passing of Nigel Warne who gave so much to schools cricket.

Nigel's family have asked us to share details of the funeral where Kate, Rachal & Sarah will welcome you to celebrate Nigel's life on Friday 31st May, 09:30am at Blackley Crematorium followed by lunch and laughter at Monton CC until 16:00pm.

All current Salford Schools Boys and Girls have been requested by the family, if they are attending, to wear their SSCA training top and cap.

Nigel will be greatly missed by all that knew him. His involvement with Salford Schools cricket for over 40 years is testimony to his love of the game and his passion for Junior cricket.

He was with Salford Schools Cricket Association:from 1975 where he carried out the following roles

1975 – 1991 - Fixture Secretary

1975 – 1991 - Treasurer

1992 – 2019 - Secretary / Manager for all age groups

Our chairman Martin Kay has added

"I've had the pleasure of knowing Nigel for over thirty years as a competitor, coach for the Salford schools and later as player / Secretary of East Lancashire Paper Mill within the old North Manchester Cricket League.

Nigel was always approachable and very knowledgeable in all aspects of recreational cricket and I had the pleasure of calling him a friend. His legacy lives on through all his cricket activities and the Board of the GMCL pass on their heartfelt condolences to Nigel's family and army of friends.

In our thoughts and prayers Nigel."

Martin Kay, Chair. GMCL
